I almost didn't watch this movie because it was still a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and the reviews were not favourable at all for this remake movie.

However, I'm glad I didn't give this movie a miss just because some movie critic felt that the movie was below par. At least my standards are not as high as theirs. True it's not an exceptional movie but for a Sunday afternoon movie it's perfect.

Basically the plot revolves around Mark Hunter played by Michael Douglas who plays a successful lawyer on the way to become a governer.

However things are not as they seem as investigative reporter C.J. suspects Hunter is forging DNA evidence to guarantee a win regardless of the innocence of the accused.

Assistant D.A. Ella Crystal (Amber Tamblyn) has to make a choice who to believe - her boss or her new boyfriend C.J.

Certainly not a blockbuster movie but very watcheable.

I know this movie got some bad reviews from movie critics and I would say I am not one of them. It's not a bad movie. I like the drama resulting in the setup where you find a superhero living in a real life city.

image

Basically it's a movie about a bum growing into and filling up his role as a savior and superhero for mankind.

image

As corny as that sounds, it's believable.

image

I like the ending where everything is explained including how Hancock can be killed and how he sacrifices love to become a hero.

I watched this late when it was one of the shows that was going to end it's screening in the cinema. Too bad my cinema don't have the 3D special effects this show was made for.

Still the show was nothing to shout about but a good way to past time in a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Finally after the two bombs of a movie, here's a movie that I like.

Surprisingly, the star of the movie is the above - the late  Heath Ledger playing Joker.

He was ahead of the game, planning and plotting things with his chaotic streak leaving Batman cluelessly guessing what is next. The Joker's character is one of the best played ever in the history of Batman surpassing all the characters that have ever acted in the Batman series.

It all boils down to Batman's steely logic vs Joker's chaos. In the end, I'm not convinced Batman won.

A long movie but I love every minute of it.

With impressive supporting cast list that include Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh I was excited to see the movie.

The first and second Mummy were not bad and I was hoping the same of the 3rd sequel. Somehow I feel the Tomb of the Dragon Emperor fell short compared to the past 2 movies. Sure there were plenty of movie special effects but with so many nowadays, movie-goers like me don't get impressed that easily anymore.

One thing that bothered me was that they replaced Evy with Rachel Weisz whom I just hate. Don't get me wrong. Her acting was great but she just didn't fit the character she was playing. She just didn't have the chemistry with Brendan Frasier.

Also the the father and son bit didn't convince. The romance between Rick's son and the 2000 year old Chinese girl didn't click.

Still, it's one of those movies you can watch for the special effects in which this movie is not short of.

If you came in with the expectations of the first 2 movies then you'll be a little disappointed.

...but sadly this disappoints.

It's just like another TV series episode. It's a blast from the past only that our two heroes are now much older and tired looking.

I am a die-hard X-Files fan by the way so to say the movie is disappointing is hard for me. Even the plot and finale lacks punch this time around. The last movie was way better so I'm giving this a two thumbs down.

The computer generated mammoth sure looks real.

However, humans using Mammoths to build the pyramids is an interesting theory! Didn’t Mammoth die out in the ice age some million years ago? How come they are here in 10,000 BC? Well, a quick check with WikiPedia tells me that “most” Mammoth died at the end of Ice Age but some small population survived on St Paul Island, Alaska , up until 6000 BC. So the creators of the show got that hole covered.

Now we know how the heavy stones were carried up the Pyramids. They used the mighty Mammoth!! :)

I noticed that all the women in the show were quite ‘native’ with dark skin but the heroes’ girl is the only Caucasian there. She is pretty though(played 22-year old Camille Belle from When a Stranger Calls). Something was missing in all the romance. No kissing scenes at all! Hands on cheek. That’s as far as our hero and his girl go.

All sort of prehistoric animals like this bird here making life difficult for our hunter/gatherer.

This would have been an almost perfect kid safe show if not for the Mammoth stomping on humans scenes.

Conclusion
Another show with beautifully computer generated effects. But nowadays this high tech is wasted on us as we are getting so used to it. I like how so many ‘technology’ was discovered in this period of time. There should have been a better storyline though.
